Garie Beach is one of Australia's top surf locations. The name Garie Beach is thought to be derived from the aboriginal word garie, meaning 'sleepy'. In 2005, Garie Beach Valley underwent renovations to improve its car park, surf life saving club and picnic areas, thereby increasing their
capabilities whilst also enhancing their affinity with the natural landscape.
Garie Beach is treasured by surfers, bushwalkers, families and friends alike for its surf and picturesque surrounds. The beach is approximately 1km long and roughly faces south, translating to larger waves than most Sydney beaches. It also has many arenas for exploration, including numerous rock pools and a 110m headland that provides a breathtaking panorama.
If you would like to extend your stay at Garie Beach, accommodation is available at Garie Beach YHA and the North Era Campsite. For more information on these see Garie Beach Accommodation. |
